Oh Cindy McCain, How I Loathe You
These comments from Cindy McCain enraged me:
“”The day that Senator Obama decided to cast a vote to not fund my son when he was serving sent a cold chill through my body.”
“I would suggest Senator Obama change shoes with me for just one day and see what it means to have a loved one serving in the armed services.”
He also voted against funding the troops in Iraq because he was against the proposed time table (aka he didn’t want a time table). Obama voted against funding because he did want a timetable. McCain also voted against funding for soldiers during Sarajevo when he wanted an earlier withdrawal. So is it only important to fund the troops when their son is in the military? Also, why is it not pertinent that McCain votes against funding troops when he is trying to achieve a political outcome?
I suggest that Cindy try living in a poor person’s shoes or even a middle class person’s shoes (she has not experienced either situations throughout her life). I suggest that Cindy changes shoes with a minority or a pregnant woman who has no money to take of the child she is carrying. She might also place herself in the shoes of a parent who’s child has died in Iraq or as a citizen of Iraq who wants our military to get out of there.
How dare Obama want a time table for Iraq to pull “loved one[s]” out of there?! What is he thinking trying to stop the drain of American dollars from going to an endless war and making our soldiers defend an occupation that is based on lies and propaganda?! How…insensitive?
This is what I think is insensitive:
-A prospective First Lady wearing Gucci and bling galore while she and her husband claim to know what the average American wants and needs. (especially in this economic climate and jobs being lost like no one’s business)
-McCain calling Obama an elitist. McCain has never been poor in his life and Obama paid his way through school and came from a single mother who lived on food stamps.
-McCain’s health care plan which is insulting to the American people and would not even cover what our employee benefits cover for us today.
I could probably go on forever about McCain’s policies that are blatantly belligerent to what the average American needs and wants, but I think I made my point. I’ll just end with saying that thinking about McCain as president (and especially Palin as VP and possibly the president should McCain die in office) sends an arctic chill through my body.
Absolutely! I heard the same comments and my personal cold chills included “gag reflex”. My other beef with the McCains this week is to their discussion of “Culture of Life”–In all the discussion of their adopted daughter, never once did they talk about her… her life as lived experience.. her life as hers…It was all about THEM and how she was there to make them feel “happy and complete”– The whole adoption issue is so warped and many times, when hearing people talk, it sounds like an ASPCA commercial for “Adopt a pet.” Sorry for the rant; but thank you for the post! ~k
Great Post! I totally agree. Cindy loves to get on her high horse. She had a drug problem and was even stealing drugs from her own charity. McCain is no moral compass either, he cheated on his first wife and has been involved with Charles Keating and once spent time on Anne Hathaway’s criminal ex boyfriend’s yacht.
I completely agree with you. The McCains have no clue what it is to be a “regular” hard working person. As a result, they are clueless about what the American people need. As for Palin, just thinking about her makes me nauseous.
I really have no doubt in my mind that Obama will win. If however I’m wrong, I’m packing up and moving.

Sometimes it’s easier just to provide a link to the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America’s website and let the reader see with their own eyes the kind of voting record John McCain has when it comes to keeping our soldiers safe and equipped while overseas, and the care and opportunities they have when they return.

I’ve hated her ever since that “I’ve always been proud of my country,” comment. But then again blind patriotism is probably my biggest pet peeve.
I agree - I think you hit the nail right on the head-as to Cindy McCain and the whole McCain campaign it is an issue only when it effects them- if it does not touch their family it is not important- I feel bad for their son who is risking his life daily for our country and they are using him as a soapbox.
Everyone should go to the websites that threedegree lists at the end of the comment. They are great, thanks threedegrees!
Thank you so much for this post! I agree! I only wish for a moment that I could imagine even trying on a gucci outfit would feel like! I am the average American, I want an “average” American representing me in office! I want someone who does not attack, but is gently honest with this country to represent me! Keep them coming!!
